Filipino Martial Arts often known as Kali, Escrima, or Arnis…is one of the most practical and effective weapon based martial arts in the world.
Kuntaw Kali Kruzada is a traditional system of Filipino martial arts that prides itself in our connection to the Philippines, staying true to our cultural roots by propagating the FMA as they are taught in the Philippines.
The Kuntaw Kali Kruzada curriculum has been designed to provide beginners and advanced practitioners alike with a complete set of armed and unarmed self-defense skills, treating every scenario as a possible encounter involving multiple attackers.
Our goal is to enable our students to training reflexively in un-patterned freestyle drills where the feeder attacks from random angles. This can be practiced with single stick, double stick, stick and dagger, empty hand, knife against empty hand, knife to knife and in multiple attack scenarios both armed and unarmed.
Many students that have studied with us have had to use what they have learned to defend themselves and others. Our students have successfully defended themselves in knife attacks, bar fights, mugging / car-jacking attempts and mass attacks using the Filipino Martial Arts.
Maestro Rich Acosta is the Chief Instructor of Kuntaw Kali Kruzada. He has over 30 years experience in the martial arts including Kali Arnis/Eskrima, Kuntaw, Jujutsu, Karate and Aikido under his brother Grandmaster Rico Acosta.
He has also received private training in the Philippines under some of the foremost experts of the Filipino martial arts such as Senior Grandmaster Vicente Sanchez (Kali Arnis International Federation), Grandmaster Samuel Bambit Dulay (IMAFP Modern Arnis), Grandmaster Jose G. Mena (Doblete Rapelon Arnis), and in the U.S. under Pantas Maestro Louelle Lledo (Amara Arkanis FMA Education).
Maestro Rich Acosta has been teaching the Filipino Martial Arts since 1996. He has taught members of the military, Army special forces, Federal bodyguard intelligence, NYPD special operations and correction officers in Manhattan.
He was inducted into the UFOMA Hall of Fame in 2010, and in 2014 he was appointed the Director of New York for Sword Stick Society International, and serves as an official advisor for the United Fellowship of Martial Artists.

As an adult student I didn’t want a ‘kids karate program’. Hapkido here is the real deal- practical, effective, and the instructors explain everything so clearly. I feel stronger and more prepared every week.
