My 8 year old daughter had tried soccer, softball, gymnastics and just didn’t have the desire to continue with those sports. My wife and I decided to take her for a trial class at Inner Power Martial Arts. All I can say is Master Brian McCann and ALL the staff and instructors at Inner Power are extremely attentive and genuinely care about helping all their students. They create a positive and fun environment for the kids to feel confident during their martial arts journey! My daughter went from taking 1 class a week to asking us to take 2 classes per week. That’s how much she loves Inner Power Martial Arts!! We highly recommend this establishment!!

I take the adult classes and they have been fantastic. Everyone at the school is super helpful and they feel like family. Master Brian is an excellent teacher and is incredibly knowledgeable as well as a good person. I would recommend Inner Power Martial Arts for anyone who is looking to get into martial arts.

There is only one school of martial arts of which you or your child should be students. It’s Inner Power. Master McCann and his team of instructors run a program that is absolutely the best in Monmouth County. My youngest daughter (4-years-old) is a student in the Little Dragons class. She is receiving such an enriched martial arts experience. Black belts Mr. Scott, Mr. Antonio, Mr. Gabe, and Mr. Liam run an EXCELLENT program for little ones. For the entire class period, there are high energy engaging activities, positive encouragement, teaching of proper form, teaching of proper technique, and an overall focus on following directions, respecting tradition and loyalty to commitment. As a young woman of 25 years old, now 12 years ago, I trained with Master McCann. It was one of the proudest periods of my life. My heart is so happy to see my youngest child on the mat. Please consider becoming members of this program. It will be one of the best investments you can make in your children’s education. Thank you.

Master Brian’s program for kids has been great for my high energy son. He’s learned a lot of discipline and built up some great skills. Always looking forward to his next class! Highly recommended for anyone interested in karate. They offer programs for most age ranges.

I have to say Inner-Power Martial Arts Family is amazing. I've had so many black belts take the time to work with amd show me. They have their own belt to work on but they help still. Master Brian McCann let's you go at your own pace so you're not rushed or feeling incompletely taught.

Since 2020 lockdown I got out of doing pro wrestling and I ended with being over
350lbs and health issues. I'm down to 304 and my flexibility is returning and thats due to the Hapkido workout and me changing my diet.

I have only completed the trial period, and I am already hooked to this school. Master Brian and the other teachers are amazing, and really make sure that you understand what they are saying. After my first trial class, I found that the classes at this school are even better than I expected. The atmosphere is very relaxed, in that no one judges you, and everyone is nice, warm, and welcoming, especially to new people. I also like that from day one, I was able to learn actual techniques, as opposed to just doing warm ups and such. Also, I am very grateful to Master Brian and Will for taking time to help me one on one, since I am a total beginner. They really made me feel wanted and not kicked to the side, since they made sure I understood everything they were showing me.

Program & Pricing FAQs

My child isn't athletic. Can he/she still participate in martial arts?

Absolutely. Martial arts teaches kids to be coordinated, flexible and strong. Kids who don't naturally have these qualities develop them. Kids who do have these qualities develop them even more.

Are these martial arts classes fun?

Yes! After all, these are children we're dealing with here. And kids love their fun. We do a variety of games and activities that have kids laughing and smiling. We work hard here - but we play just as hard.

What's a good age for a child to start martial arts?

Honestly, practically every age is a good age to start! We have young children, as well as teenagers. We also have specific programs for adults. So no matter what age - we've got you covered.

Can martial arts cause injury?

Because we place such a huge focus on safety and injury prevention, we're proud to say that injuries are very few and far between with our program. In fact, because martial arts gets you in great shape, and makes you strong and flexible, people often see LESS injuries in their lives.

Do you have to be in good shape to take martial arts?

Not at all! In fact, many people use martial arts as a way to get in good shape. They come to us out of shape, and quickly become athletic and limber.

Is martial arts violent?

No! Because self-defense technique is taught in martial arts, it's often thought of as violent. However, the philosophies behind martial arts revolve around peace and harmony. The moves are more of a way to become connected with your body. We teach diplomacy and friendship. However, if a violent situation ever arises in your life, you'll have powerful tools to defend yourself and your loved ones.
